Hooo, hoooo, hooooo!

(hoo, hoooooo, hhooooo)

Did you hear that!?

I think I heard an owlette!!

Yes, indeed!

(hoo hoo, hoooooo)

I'm sure I did that time!!

Oh look!! There they are!!!
I've been working on a batch of needle-felted lovelies for the past week or so, and am almost finished.....they just need a few more little touches here and there.

There are other little owly dears (not pictured here) that I'm currently be-feathering and felting in cozy little fluff-heaps upon the table and all shall be ready for adoption by the weekend (I'm hoping!)

I'll be sure to post an update when they are finally nesting happily in the shop! : )
Until then, Lovelies, why not watch another (and ever so beautiful) wooded owl-story (of the foggy-hedgehog variety)......

Cheerio for now, Dears!!

Wee Snippets....

I've been working on ever so many projects as of late....
More than a few new paintings (large and small), dolls, a bit of a needle-felted surprise and many, many drawings with promises of becoming new prints.....

Here's a few wee snippets from my little studio:

Sketches and plannings on the desk.....
&

A few little details of an as-yet-un-completed larger scale painting that I'm working on.....
It's quite large (at least for me).
More Soon to come!!

Thanks so much for visiting! : )

Fair Lily of the Vale......

Now available as a Print in my Shop!! : )
(Click any of the links above to go to my shop where little Miss Lily is available to purchase in Print form.)

I've been listening to far too many old time ballads as of late....much Pete Seeger, Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotten, Roscoe Holcomb......and many other lovelies via the Smithsonian folkways collections. ( You might remember my last ballad-venture, Omie Wise).

Perhaps it's not any great surprise, then, that as I sketched this fair-cheeked maid by the morning's new light, that I started to hear the lyrics of some unknown, and mournful ballad as I drew tiny white, bell-flowers and swirls of fine hair.....

I searched, and searched... but could find no poem or ballad that struck quite the right chord for my fair little Lily......so I came up with my own wee snippet
(which perhaps I'll elaborate on later....)

Fair Lily, Fair Lily, oh where do you go to
away, away and singing so softly?

Across the far hills and into the forest,
To bloom at my true love's grave.

I tried a bit of a different technique with this piece (and it's one that I think I may work with again soon, as the finished effect is quite striking). I've been pouring over Ingres in Fashion (a recent library treat) and fell quite in love with his sketches and watercolours....I think I admire his drawings even more than his finished paintings.

Cheerio for now, Dears!

From Original to Print.....Part Two

As promised earlier,
I've got the second new print all finished and ready in the shop!

Sister Swan, Print
7.5 x 10" inches

I added a minty grey-green tint to the background of the print version, and I just love the misted-mood it brings out!

A couple of details (of the actual printed piece):

Back to work I hop, hop, hop
(just like the bunnies in our yard!)
tee hee!

P.S.....
It's taken me a little while to get things all sorted out, but now there is a newly added SALE SECTION in my little MarmeeCraft menagerie where resides a pretty assortment (a whole shop's page worth) of prints, and originals and other little lovelies (that shall change from time to time).....all marked down for my little sale-loving-sweets!! Do take a peep, you just never know what might pop in on sale!! : )

From Original to Print.....

Hello, Dears! : )

I'm beaming and oh so happy to share a new print
(that had previously been available as an original in the olde shoplette)
and now is available in a much more affordable
(and ever so dandy) new form:

Our Pinecone Garland, Print
7.5 x 10" inches

And a few details of the actual print:

I'm also currently hard at work bringing another original to print-ready completion,
and shall be sure to drop in to share it just as soon as ever it's all finished and in the shopling!

Happy little Mondays, all!!
